Why some touch controls feel right and others don't

I've played games where the controls vanished from my mind within minutes, and others where I spent the whole session fighting my own fingers. The difference almost never comes down to the game being 'hard'.

The biggest culprit is tiny touch targets crammed near the screen edges, right where your palm wants to rest. Good mobile design keeps the important buttons large and away from where your thumbs naturally grip the phone.

Games that offer control options tend to win. Letting me resize or reposition buttons, or choose between tilt and touch steering, means I can match the game to my hands and my phone size rather than the other way around.

Feedback matters too. A tiny visual flash or a short haptic tick when a tap lands tells me the input registered, so I'm not mashing the screen in doubt. The best games I tested got this quietly right.
